SRA Conference 2023
Scottish Renal Association 2023 – Peebles

Health Tec Medical attended this years SRA Conference in the beautiful location of Peebles.

We would like to thank Donna Wright for all her hard work in organising another fantastic event where we got to meet lots of familiar faces. Our Managing Director had the opportunity to reminisce with one of the Guest Speakers, Dr John Turney, about their shared experiences within the Renal field over the last 40 years.

We look forward to attending again next year.

ART Conference 2023
Association of Renal Technologists 2023 – Telford Hotel

This years Conference was a huge success providing us the opportunity to catch up with fellow exhibitors and Renal Technicians from all over the UK.

We were able to showcase the Redsense Monitor and highly anticipated Bluetooth Clamp – which is our VND alarm system – and would like to thank Anne-Marie who is the CTO from Redsense for joining us on the stand.

The Conference gave us a great opportunity to launch the new Digiterm Laser Cut Frames that have now been put into production and will enhance the durability of the Digiterm chairs.

Thank you to the ART Committee for organising another great event.

National Kidney Federation Annual Patients Event 2023

We had a wonderful day exhibiting for the 1st time at the NKF Kidney Patients' event at the Radisson Blue Hotel.

It was lovely meeting patients and local Kidney Associations and Federation teams from across the country and sharing their experiences.

Our main focus was educational to raise awareness of the risks of Venous Needle Dislodgment (VND) and promote the Redsense alarm and newly developed clamp ( currently in testing in Canada) and our Digiterm C3 ECO chair for Home Haemodialysis.

A big Thankyou to the team at NKF for hosting such a great event.

Scarborough General Hospital
New Therapy Area for Health Tec Medical - Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)

In recent months we have installed 46 Digiterm chairs within new build SDEC Units across the following NHS Trusts, Countess of Chester, Scarborough General, Morriston Hospital (Swansea Bay) and Sandwell General Hospital.

Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) is one of the many ways the NHS is working to provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time for patients.

It aims to benefit both patients and the healthcare system by reducing waiting times and hospital admissions, where appropriate.

SDEC is the provision of same day care for emergency patients who would otherwise be admitted to hospital.

Under this care model, patients presenting at hospital with relevant conditions can be rapidly assessed, diagnosed, and treated without being admitted to a ward, and if clinically safe to do so, will go home the same day their care is provided.

The national SDEC model builds on previous improvement work in ambulatory emergency care (AEC) services across the NHS, with the aim of providing a consistent approach to patient pathways.

This short animation is designed to explain the role of SDEC, where it fits within the urgent and emergency care system and the benefits it provides to both staff and patients.

There are significant benefits associated with treating people through SDEC services, including:

  • the ability for patients to be assessed, diagnosed, and start treatment on the same day, improving patient experience and reducing hospital admissions.
  • avoiding unplanned and longer than necessary stays in hospitals, resulting in lower risk of infections and de-conditioning for patients
  • financial benefits and cost savings for hospitals, and often for patients too.
Redsense Venous Clamp

Haemodialysis machines are not all capable of automatically stopping the flow of blood if a venous needle dislodgement or access-bloodline separation occurs. If it does happen, blood continues to pump at high rates into the environment instead of being returned to the patient. Until now…

The Redsense clamp is a wireless device that communicates with the Redsense Alarm to stop the flow of blood if a venous needle dislodgement / access-bloodline separation occurs during haemodialysis.

Using Bluetooth technology, the wireless clamp works in tandem with the Redsense Monitor. Together they work as a Blood Loss Security System safeguarding the venous access with real-time monitoring, detection, and mitigation of blood loss.

Currently in beta-testing for CE Marking.

skye
Broadford Hospital, Skye (NHS Highland)

We were delighted to visit the stunning Isle of Skye to commission 10 Digiterm C4 Digiterm chairs for the newly build community Hospital. We think this maybe the furthest new build to date for us from Hathersage. Over 400 miles of beautiful scenery was worth the trip.

We were involved from the beginning in spec’ing out both the Renal Unit and Chemotherapy chairs for both teams alongside the Equipping team, nurses and project managers. We look forward to their yearly maintenance visits.
